Donna Noonan - Production Designer

Donna has more than two decades of experience in the world of Theatre, Television and Film.

Of Ojibwa-Cree descent from Northern Ontario, Donna has more than two decades of experience in the world of Theatre, Television and Film. After obtaining her BFA Cum Laude from Concordia University in Theatre Scenography, she worked with the Association for Native Development in the Visual and Performing Arts.

Through Noonan's participation with ANDVPA she participated in The Traveling Medicine Show, which was performed throughout Ontario and traveled with ANDVPA's theatre group Kematawin to the 6é Festival du Theatre Amateur in Monaco. Also with ANDVPA she worked as Assistant Director for the First Indigenous Theatre Celebration that included over 300 native performers and delegates from 14 countries around the world.

In the Film and Television trade she worked as Head Decorator, Art Director and Production Designer on such popular television series as: Tony and Ridley Scott's The Hunger, the France/Canada co-production: Largo Winch, Galafilm's UK/Canadian co-production: The Worst Witch, Galafilm/Back Alley's productions of Bliss and Ciné Télé Action's four hour mini-series Indian Summer: The Oka Crisis.

Some of her feature film credits include Little Men, Vanished, Hawk's Vengeance, Dead Innocent, When Justice Fails and Life in the Balance. Noonan worked as a First Nations Consultant for the Bruce Beresford film, The Black Robe and Sir Richard Attenborough's film, Grey Owl. Fluent in French, she has production designed for the French language international and domestic television series Arsene Lupin - L'étrange demoiselle and the film La Presence des Ombres. As the Canadian Art Director, she worked within the world of Motion capture, CGI, hybrid photography and live action filming the 3 hour mini-series, Fungus the Bogeyman, which won Best Children's Programme at the PACT Awards in the UK. She received nominations for Best Production Design in a Dramatic Programme or Series for the episode "Voice" from Galafilm/Back Alley's television series Bliss at the 2002 Gemini Awards, and also for the Bliss episode "Steph's Life" at the 2004 Gemini Awards. In 2003 she also received a Golden Sheaf nomination for Best Art Direction at the Yorkton Short Film and Video Awards for another Bliss episode, "Nina's Muse".
