Christina Fon is a valuable member of the Rezolution Pictures International producing team. Over the past five years she has produced an impressive selection of films for the company. Her recent producer credits include: Mohawk Girls (2004), a feature length documentary co-produced with the NFB that examines the lives of teenage girls on a Mohawk reserve in Kahnawake, Quebec, and Heavy Metal: A Mining Disaster in Northern Quebec (2004; Rigoberta Manchu Prize, First Nations Festival, Montreal), a hard-hitting documentary about a small community in Northern Quebec being devastated by toxic mining waste. She is currently producing the documentary Club Native, filmed in the Mohawk community of Kahnawake for APTN and in co-production with the National Film Board of Canada. Club Native explores contemporary Aboriginal identity and begs the question, who exactly is Native?
As producer, Christina played a major role in bringing the eight part comedy series Moose TV to life. The series, about the antics of a cast of misfits at a small town TV station and staring Adam Beach (Law and Order, Flags of Our Fathers), was completed in the summer of 2007 and was produced for Showcase.
Christina also produced three seasons of the popular documentary series DAB IYIYUU / Absolutely Cree for APTN about the wilderness skills and legends of the last generation of elders. In addition, she collaborated as associate producer on the two part documentary special One More River (2004; Best Documentary, Rendez-Vous du Cinéma Québecois), a behind the scenes look at how the Crees of Quebec voted to allow more damming of their river. Before joining the Rezolution team, Christina worked for ten years in feature film and television series production and produced two short films, Annabelle (24min. 35mm) which premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival in 1996 and The Big World which aired on ARTV.
Christina is currently in post production with CBC's The Lens on Mommy Mommy, a documentary about the trials and tribulations of future gay parents. She has also produced Rez Rides, a garage culture show, now in its second season. She is currently producing Reel Indian (in development with APTN and CBC's The Passionate Eye) and the historical docu-drama The Last Explorer (in production with APTN).
